Who we are

Redemption Church Flagstaff is a non-denominational Christian church that started in 2012. We are part of a family of churches called the Beloved Community.

As a church we want to faithfully live all of life all for Jesus. We do this by worshiping together, spending time in community with one another, learning from the Bible together, and living outward focused lives doing our best to love the world. This involves proclaiming the good news about Jesus, making disciples, finding creative ways to love our neighbors, and at times seeking justice on their behalf.

The Beloved Community is a family of churches and initiatives across Arizona (Flagstaff, the Alhambra Neighborhood of Phoenix, and South Phoenix) that are seeking to live in unity with one another and on mission together as one church family in local expressions.

History of Redemption Church Flagstaff

In June of 2012 a team of people mostly from the Tempe area moved up to plant Redemption Church Flagstaff. We were part of a multi-congregational church called Redemption Church Arizona that was made up of several local churches across Arizona.

Since planting the church we’ve met in an apartment, another church building, the Orpheum downtown, and two highschools! We’ve been blessed by God to see him move through a vibrant community of believers in Flagstaff ever since we first started officially meeting in October of 2012. Though there have been ups and downs in our church, God has made himself known to us through this ordinary local body of believers.

Over the course of 2023, Redemption Church Arizona ran into some philosophical and theological tensions that caused the 10 congregations that made up the multi-congregational to decide to organize and disconnect from one another in different ways. We in Flagstaff were saddened by this because of the deep love we had for the other churches and the beautiful benefits we experienced while being part of Redemption Arizona. Due to our own theological convictions, and desires for a similar level of connection and unity we began to partner with the formerly known Redemption Alhambra and the South Phoenix Church plant to become the Beloved Community. Although we have kept our name Redemption Church Flagstaff, we are not part of the Redemption Church Network. We still have deep love and respect for the Redemption Network of churches.

Being part of the Beloved Community is a new blessing for our church. Although we are a local church in Flagstaff, we get the benefits of being influenced by, cared for, coached, and even corrected by churches that are part of the Beloved Community. We get to be a stronger church by being in the Beloved Community family of churches. That’s a bit of our history, and hopefully all of that helps you get to know us a bit as you consider making Redemption Church Flagstaff your home church and maybe even helps you end up being part of our present and future!
